Producer Robin Jay, who is also the President of the Las Vegas Convention Speakers Bureau, said she decided to produce the movie because the self-help genre was lacking entertaining, engaging films; she said, “Before you can empower someone, you first must engage them, and there is no better way to engage viewers than by making the movie funny.” She sought the help of producer/director Stephen Simon, with whom she credits for the idea to make the movie funny. “Stephen loved that I wanted to do something critically different – and not just do another movie that offers an endless stream of talking heads. It was his suggestion to make it funny – and I was on board immediately.”
